Helping women in Mozambique

March 15, 2012

Hickman High School students Jenna, Gia and Alison are working with Boone Hospital ultrasonographer Renee Baxter to collect donations of gently used bras for women in Mozambique.

Renee Baxter, an ultrasonographer at Boone Hospital Center, is working with three Hickman High School students to help women in Mozambique, Africa escape sex trafficking.

For their project, they are seeking donations of gently used bras. The bras will then be sent to women in Mozambique. Women in Mozambique then sell the bras at their local markets as a way to earn money and stay out of sex trafficking. Selling the bras can help these women earn more than three times the minimum wage.

If you would like to donate a gently used bra, you can drop it off in the main office at Hickman High School or bring them to Renee inside Boone Hospital’s Ultrasound Department, located on the ground floor of the hospital’s Center for Outpatient Services.

If you have any questions, contact Alison at 573-239-8890 or Renee at 573-815-3709.
